Your Home Visitors Shouldn't Have to Build a Health Curriculum While Doing Everything Else

Early Head Start home visitors work with families who have very different needs.
One pregnant parent may need education about nutrition. Another may have questions
about medications. Another may be preparing for labor. After the baby arrives,
the conversation changes again—to postpartum recovery, infant feeding, newborn
care, safe sleep, emotional wellness, and preventive healthcare.

Even excellent home visiting teams have different levels of health knowledge,
experience, confidence, and available preparation time.

The result can be an unintended inconsistency: Families may receive very different levels of health education depending on which staff member serves them.

Staff turnover can make this even harder. New employees must learn their role
while programs still need to ensure families receive quality, understandable
prenatal and infant health education.

Your families deserve consistency.

Your staff deserve better tools.

The Nurturing Voices Solution

Give Every Family Access to the Same Strong Foundation

The Nurturing Voices Early Head Start Parent Health Training Library provides a structured educational pathway that follows families from pregnancy through the toddler's years. .

Instead of asking individual staff members to develop health lessons, determine what information to include, search for materials, or repeatedly teach the same foundational content, your program can provide families with professionally developed trainings they can complete on their own schedule.

Then your home visitors can do what they do best:

Reinforce the information. Answer questions. Individualize support. Connect families with resources. Follow up on needs. Build relationships.

Self-Paced learning

Every parent training session is available in English and Spanish

Parents complete a knowledge check after each training to reinforce the most important information

Track completion

Health Managers can see which trainings have been completed, making it easier to monitor family participation and identify education that still needs to be completed.

Create a Structured Learning Pathway From Pregnancy Through Age 3.
Instead of relying on a collection of separate parent resources, families move through an organized sequence based on pregnancy stage and the baby's or toddler's needs.

Simple for Families. Valuable for Your Team.

1. Assign

Your program identifies the trainings that are appropriate for the family's stage of pregnancy or the child's age.

2. Learn

Parents complete the prerecorded training at their convenience in English or Spanish.

3. Check Understanding

Parents complete a short knowledge check following the training.

4. Track

The Health Manager can monitor training completion from the program dashboard.

5. Reinforce

Home visitors can use what the parent has already learned as a starting point for individualized discussion, support, referrals, and follow-up.

The 39 trainings are intentionally organized into eight stages:

Created by Someone Who Understands Early Head Start

Dr. Alma Ruth Sandoval

These trainings were not created by someone who simply researched Early Head Start from the outside.

They were developed from the perspective of someone who understands both health and the realities of Head Start implementation.

Dr. Alma Ruth Sandoval is a foreign medical graduate with more than two decades of experience working in Head Start and Early Head Start health services. She does not provide medical care through Nurturing Voices.

Her professional experience includes program-level health services, federal Head Start reviews, training and technical assistance, and consulting with programs serving children and families.

She understands the challenge Health Managers face:

You need accurate, understandable information for families—but you also need resources that staff can actually use within the realities of Early Head Start.

That experience is built into the training system.

Practical. Understandable. Family-centered. Designed for Early Head Start.

One annual subscription gives your program a structured, ready-to-use family health education system.

This Isn't Another Resource Your Staff Has to Figure Out How to Use

Instead of:

❌ Searching for educational materials
❌ Creating presentations from scratch
❌ Repeating the same lessons individually
❌ Depending on each staff member's level of health knowledge
❌ Wondering which families received which education
❌ Maintaining disconnected training records

Your program gains:

✅ Ready-to-use prenatal, infant and toddler health education
✅ English and Spanish training access
✅ A consistent curriculum across families and staff
✅ Self-paced access for parents
✅ Knowledge checks after training
✅ Completion tracking for Health Managers
✅ A structured learning pathway from pregnancy through age 3
✅ More time for home visitors to focus on individualized family support

This System Supports Home Visitors. It Doesn't Replace Them.

Home visitors remain essential.

A prerecorded training cannot know that a particular family lacks transportation.

It cannot know that a parent is worried about feeding.

It cannot recognize that a family needs a WIC referral.

It cannot replace the relationship between a family and their Early Head Start team.

But it can provide the foundational education consistently.

That means home visitors can spend less time repeating general information and more time asking:

“What questions do you have?”

“How does this apply to your family?”

“What do you need help with?”

“What should we follow up on together?”

That's a better use of skilled staff time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Early Head Start Parent Health Training Library?

It is a separate library of 39 prerecorded bilingual health trainings covering pregnancy through age 3 — designed specifically for Early Head Start families, including pregnant mothers and families with infants and toddlers.

How is this different from the Head Start Parent Health Literacy Series?

They are two separate products for two different age groups. The Head Start series (12 trainings) serves families of children ages 3–5; the Early Head Start library (39 trainings) covers pregnancy through age 3. A program serving both age groups may use both.

What topics does the EHS Parent Health Training Library cover?

The 39 trainings cover prenatal care, infant feeding, safe sleep, vaccines, child development, and everyday health topics for the earliest years — all in plain, parent-friendly language, in English and Spanish.

Can home visitors use these trainings with families?

Yes. Home visitors often have limited hours with each family; these on-demand trainings extend their reach — families can watch from home, anytime, and arrive at visits better informed so staff can spend time supporting instead of repeating.

How do we get pricing for our EHS program?

Request your institutional price and Dr. Sandoval will personally prepare your quote within 24 hours on business days.

The Nurturing Voices EHS Parent Health Education Library provides general educational information for parents, caregivers, and Early Head Start programs. The trainings are not medical care, diagnosis, treatment, mental health counseling, nutrition counseling, emergency guidance, or individualized professional advice and do not create a doctor-patient or other professional relationship.

Parents and caregivers should consult their own physician, pediatrician, dentist, mental health professional, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional regarding individual health concerns. In a medical or mental health emergency, contact appropriate emergency services.

The library is designed to support family health education and addresses topics reflected in the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Use of the library does not by itself guarantee or establish compliance with Head Start requirements, state or tribal requirements, licensing standards, or local program policies. Each program remains responsible for determining and providing the services, referrals, follow-up, individualized support, documentation, and other activities required for the families it serves.

Knowledge checks and completion records document participation and understanding of educational content only. They are not health screenings, assessments, diagnostic tools, professional certifications, or determinations of competency.
